The Ducati 916 SPS managed to achieve something very few other bikes have ever managed – it transcended the boundaries of the market and gained universal recognition and praise from both motorcyclists and non-motorcyclists alike. It is this fact that makes the 916 SPS such a standout motorcycle and was a major reason for its iconic status.
Developed in 1993 and launched in 1994, the 916 SPS was an astounding success. It had journalists spluttering for the superlatives and Foggy reaching for the World Superbike title in the bike’s very first year of production. The 916 was a quantum leap forward.
Looks and performance-wise the bike was a winner. With lines from the pen of Massimo Tamburini and an eight-valve, liquid-cooled motor from the genius of Massimo Bordi, form and function hadn’t been seen moulded together so perfectly since The Creation itself.
It wasn’t the most powerful (124 bhp at the wheel for a 916 SPS), it wasn’t the lightest (around 200 kg) and it could be agony to ride if you were anything but the perfect size for it, but the 916 SPS was the most beautiful motorcycle then created and it’s still the benchmark for two-wheeled exotica today.

I’ve always had a sweet spot for the MV Agusta. Like most people, I find that part of my attraction to this most boutique of boutique manufacturers comes from the way MV’s designers turn wicked concepts into striking reality with no regard to price consciousness or manufacturing volume. Also, MV Agusta riders aren’t likely to see another example of their bike on an average Sunday ride, and when their MV’s gets noticed, its distinctive looks, sound, and cool factor mean it almost certainly will, the reaction the bike receives is unlike anything else.
But this combination of striking design and sheer cool would be meaningless without performance to match the style, and the Dragster RR RC has performance in heaps. It makes for a really fun ride when it’s allowed to let its ride-by-wire, 13,200 rpm engine sing in the upper rpm ranges!

This is biking at its most minimalist. The CCM Spitfire Bobber is little more than a blunt four-valve engine, slender hand-made tube frame and a pair of wheels. There’s so much space between components you can see straight through the bike – there’s nowt to it.
Minimal doesn’t mean basic, though. The classy Spitfire features machined alloy components, bespoke brakes, adjustable suspension, and a frame (in the steel used for the fuselage of the WW2 fighter of the same name) that’s available with a clear powder coating so you can appreciate the hand-welded joins. It feels like a high-end custom.
With low weight, no faffy electronics and a snappy single-cylinder engine the Spitfire delivers unfiltered motorcycling. It doesn’t just look like a custom, it rides like a perfectly executed special as well.
With a stiff set-up, barking exhaust note and lashings of feedback it’s not a machine for the shy, or those after a sedate, cosseting riding experience. But it’s certainly engaging.

DKW (Dampf-Kraft-Wagen, English: steam-driven car) is a German car and motorcycle marque.The company and brand is one of the ancestor companies of the modern day Audi company which was one of the four companies that formed Auto-Union.
In 1916, Danish engineerJorgen Skafte Rasmussen founded a factory in Zschopau Saxony Germany, to produce steam fittings.
That year he attempted to produce a steam-driven car, called the DKW.Although unsuccessful, he made a two-stroke toy engine in 1919, called “Des Knaben Wunsch “– “the boy’s wish”.
He put a slightly modified version of this engine into a motorcycle and called it “Das Kleine Wunder “– “the little wonder” the initials from this becoming the DKW brand.
By the late 1920s, DKW was the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer.
The DKW RT 175 was one of the company‘s most successful post-war motorcycles.
It was a new design that reached the market in 1954 and satisfied demand in the popular 175 cc class.
The engine, rated at just under 10 horsepower, was notable for its excellent torque characteristic, and the four-speed gearbox helped the rider to make even better use of the available torque.
